FAQ

Questions Clinicians Ask

Do these courses count toward my NYS social work CE?

Not yet. Mentara Health has applied to the NYSED State Board for Social Work for provider approval. Courses completed before approval is granted are not eligible for NYS social work CE credit. You can take the open courses now for professional development, and we'll post the official approval statement here once it's issued.

How many self-study hours can I count?

NYSED lets licensed social workers count no more than 12 self-study hours in each 36-month registration period. Every Mentara course is 3 contact hours of self-study.

How are the courses taught?

Every course is online and self-paced: narrated video lessons, a participant workbook and knowledge checks, followed by a final assessment and a course evaluation.

  • Clinical Supervisor Training: video lectures, a workbook with reflection exercises and six module knowledge checks.
  • Mastering Clinical Documentation: one continuous worked case, hands-on assignments with model answers, and downloadable templates.
  • Professional Boundaries: branching decision scenarios, a telehealth informed-consent checklist builder and a cross-license capstone case.
  • Differential Diagnosis: seven worked case scenarios across mood, anxiety, trauma, OCD and psychotic presentations.
  • Let's Talk Sex: a continuous worked case, a values-clarification exercise and case-conceptualization activities.
  • Skills Beyond DBT and Effective Use of Assessments: clinical case examples, application exercises and quick-reference handouts.
How do I get my certificate?

Finish every module, pass the final assessment and complete the course evaluation. Your certificate is issued after all three are done. Certificates will carry provider approval information once approval is granted.

Who teaches the courses?

Licensed clinicians who practice, supervise and teach in New York, including clinical supervisors, an AASECT-certified sex therapist and university faculty. Each course page lists its instructor.

How are courses designed and kept current?

Topics come from licensing requirements, gaps in available CE, practitioner surveys and input from clinical supervisors. Each course is built around measurable objectives, reviewed by a licensed clinician who didn't write it and piloted where possible. We review participant evaluations, assessment results and instructor feedback after every run, and every course is reviewed at least once a year or sooner when DSM criteria, regulations or ethics codes change.

What is the refund policy?

Full refund within 7 days of purchase if you haven't started the course. No refund after course access begins. This applies to every course.
